This was the cover image I drew for The Complete Copybook Tales collection, published by Oni Press back in 2003.
The series focused on the life of Jamie Cruz, alternating between his teen years and his mid-twenties. This image shows Jamie as a teen on the left, holding his copybook journal and some LPs, and as an adult on the right, with the copybook and some CDs. See what I did there? Visual clues denoting the different time periods? Get it? I'm not just another pretty face, y'know...  The sad thing is that the older Jamie is now dated with those CDs. Maybe we can do a sequel to the series that has three timelines: teen years, early adulthood, and middle age, complete with a balding Jamie downloading songs onto his iPod! |
